Woo! Just got back from working out. Ran 2.3 miles in 30 min. Not my best, but I did run the 1st mile straight with no brakes or anything. Very proud of myself for that. No passing out for me this time. I ate some toast with Smart Balance and a touch of grape jelly while watching Bones and now I'm eating a bit of low-fat vanilla yogurt before my shower. I'm looking at swimsuits to help keep me motivated on my workout. I have a lovely one piece back in St. Louis, but I'd love to wear a bikini this year. Lets hope I'll be able to.
Does anyone (mainly Kat because I'm pretty sure she's the only one who reads this) know any good pre and post workout stretches? The ones I'm doing aren't very good and I walked out of my run today with a little soreness in the upper part of my left leg. Any ideas? I'd love 'em.
Now to finish my yogurt over some House, a shower, then doing a bit of homework before class this afternoon.
As of right now, it is 11:09 PM on Thursday, February 24, 2011. This is a glorious moment because I am not having a pity party for myself (for once). I'm actually very much in love with life right now. Even with the stress that comes with school and figuring out where I'll be living over the summer, I'm still happy. I don't need drugs or booze or any of that.
Today is the 3rd or 4th gloomy day we've had in a row. It's awful. It had been so sunny and beautiful for most of last week and now it seems as if winter has come back.
I woke up this morning not really wanting to work out, but after seeing my friend Shane and then Kat Von D tweet about how they were either going to work out or wanting to work out, I took it as a sign. So on my sneakers went and I hit the treadmill. I only ran 1.5 miles, but it has been a while since I worked out last and I didn't want to get sick like I did last time I pushed myself when I wasn't ready. Maybe tomorrow I'll run 2 or maybe I'll do the bike. Either way, I gotta keep it up because my pants are starting to fit me better! Oh happy days! I no longer have that much of a muffin top when I wear skinny jeans. Love it so much. It's very encouraging and makes me want to go eat some fruit in celebration, but I have none. I'll have to pick some up next time I go to the store. Once it gets nicer out I think I may even make the trek to Whole Foods and get a grapefruit or two and a few other things as a nice little treat to myself.
This morning, I got up early enough to do some much needed laundry. It's taken me almost 7 months, but I'm finally done with my Purex sheets. What awful things those are. My socks ALWAYS some out dingy and its also left stains on my bra and a few of my shirts. Not cool at all. I'll be switching back to Tide and Bounce. I'll have to get some Oxi Clean in order to get my socks nice and white again. Plus, it's very good at getting any sort of stain out. I'll have to get some dryer sheets as well, but those seem to last a lifetime.
The weather here in Chicago has been wonderful. It makes me really want to go out and ride my nonexistent bike. After I get a job I'll have to get one. It's a very easy way to get around AND it'll help me get into shape.
Speaking of getting into shape, I did use the stationary bike this morning. I hate a bowl of Rasin Bran Crunch and watched 30 Rock before doing so. I attempted to do some weight training but the gym in my building is not too hot. But I've been noticing an increase in energy. I'm not as sluggish as I was even a week ago. It's amazing what working out everyday can do to a body. Now, I just gotta keep it up.
